Slide: Acts 13:33 God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.’

34 And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, He has spoken thus: ‘I will give you the sure mercies of David.’

35 Therefore He also says in another Psalm: ‘You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.’

NKJV

Gods word say’s “You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.”

No more corruption (Decay)

What’s more concerning, my physical bodyclose proximityw spiritual body.

Where on goes, the other goes.

So I need to take care of it.

I need to preserve it.

I’m going bad/passing the expiration date.

Slide: “How to Keep From Going Bad.”

Things we can do to protect our physical/spiritual bodies.

We need a preservative.

Slide:

Acts 13:33 God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm: ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.’

NKJV

Not only will He preserve our spiritual body/physical as well.

Paul, through Christ, is offering to the Jews.

Life everlasting.

Eternal security.

No expiration date.

v. “God has fulfilled this for us their children”

Slide:

Acts 13:34 And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to corruption, He has spoken thus: ‘I will give you the sure mercies of David.’

NKJV

The blessings of David.

Paul is quoting Isaiah 55:3 in Gods promise to David that the Messiah would come through his lineage.

Jewish understandingMessiahDavid/rise from dead.

Paul say’s “this is the one you’ve been waiting on.” (Life preserver)

Slide:

Acts 13:35 Therefore He also says in another Psalm: ‘You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.’

NKJV

There’s that word again, “corruption”

Billions are spent every year to prevent corruption.

Exercise Clubs/at all time high attendance.

Vitaminshealth food storesevery corner.

Benefit your physical body.

What about spiritual corruption?

Movies/we went to PG-13 (Walked out)

Children/murdering each other.

We live in a fallen world/corrupt.

What if I could throw you a preserver.

What if instead of a “Food Saver 2000”

Removed all the harmful air.

What if you could have a “ Life Savior 2000”

Removed all the sins?

Slide:

Acts 13:36 “For David, after he had served his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and saw corruption;

NKJV

Acts 13:37 but He whom God raised up saw no corruption.

NKJV

God, the creator of heaven, earth…

He gives life…

He gives eternal life…

To prove it He raised Christ from the dead.

v. 31 He was seen for many days by those who came up with Him.

Watch this:

Slide:

Acts 13:38 Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins;

39 and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses.

40 Beware therefore, lest what has been spoken in the prophets come upon you:

NKJV

Therefore…because of everything I just told you…

Through this man/forgiveness of sins.

There’s the problem/corruption

Sin!

Mix the good with the bad/all goes bad.

Illustration:

Canning hot sauce/had all the right ingredients.

Put in baking soda/exploded!

A little singrowslife blows up.

But…

v.39 everyone who believes is justified.

Paul was telling them, through faith in Jesus

Two blessings the law could never provide.

1. Forgiveness of their sins

2. Justification before God.

Just-as-if-ied never sinned.

When God (creator of heaven and earth)

Looks at you and I (through Christ forgiveness)

He sees us as cleansed and pure.

Food Saver 2000/ Life Savior 2007

Removed your sins…if you believe.

“Beware though”

Slide:

Acts 13:41 ‘Behold, you despisers, Marvel and perish! For I work a work in your days, A work which you will by no means believe, Though one were to declare it to you.’ ”

NKJV

I work a work;

Reference: to Habakuk 1:5

God say’s “I’m going to do something so amazing you won’t believe it.”

God said, “Not only am I going to save the gentiles, I’m going to use the Jews to do it.”

Slide:

Acts 13: 42 So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath.

NKJV

Acts 13:43 Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.

NKJV

Continue in the Grace of God.

Quit trying to work your way to heaven.

And start walking your way to heaven.

Walking in the steps of Jesus.

Slide:

Acts 13:44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God.

45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul.

NKJV

The gentiles did a good job of spreading the news.

“almost the whole city came together the hear…”

Jews but mostly Gentiles/excited to hear the “Good News”

And the Jews didn’t like it.

This meant that the majority of the congregation that Sabbath Day was Gentile. This provoked the Jews to jealousy and they hindered Paul’s ministry, so Paul boldly turned to the Gentiles.

Slide:

Acts 13:46 Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles.

NKJV

Acts 13:47 For so the Lord has commanded us: ‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’”

NKJV

Acts 13:48 Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.

NKJV

“I have set you like a light…”

Where has God set you?

Are you a life preserver/or reaching out.

Close:

Slide:

Acts 13:49 And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region.

NKJV

Acts 13:50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent women and the chief men of the city, raised up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region.

NKJV

The word of the Lord was being spread.

By the mouth of man.

No by those emails/send this to 10 people prayers answered.

This is a corrupt world. Decaying

Preservation in the resurrection of Jesus.

Slide:

Acts 13:51 But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and came to Iconium.

NKJV

Acts 13:52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.

NKJV

“Filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.”

That’s the ingredient…

You have to be filled.

You can’t just remove something/fill it with something else.

If you don’t it’s just empty/dies.

Is your life becoming corrupt?

Do you know someone whose life in decay?

Do you want to be filled with the Holy Spirit?

Do you want to know “How to Keep from Going Bad?

Promise to God;

1. Live your life through Him/ accepts His forgiveness.

2. Live your life by Him/by Him you are justified.

3. Live your life for Him/I will let my life shine.
